Senior Dog Photoshoot Near Sherwood Pines, Nottinghamshire Meet Sid
I had the absolute pleasure of photographing one very special fur baby near Sherwood Pines, Nottinghamshire. His name is Sid, and at 14 years young, he is truly proof that age is just a number.
From the moment Sid arrived, he came straight over to say hello, stole my heart instantly, and even sent me off with a few goodbye kisses at the end of the session. Sweet, gentle, and full of character, Sid was an absolute angel to photograph.
A Senior Dog Photoshoot That Goes at Their Pace
One thing I pride myself on as a Nottinghamshire dog photographer is always letting the dog lead the session, especially when photographing senior dogs. Sid wasn’t a fan of sitting on cold, icy grass (and honestly, who could blame him?), so instead of forcing poses, we went with the flow and focused on what made him comfortable.
This approach is exactly why senior dog photography is so special. It’s not about perfection, it’s about personality, comfort, and capturing them exactly as they are in that moment.
Sid and His Favourite Red Toy
Sid absolutely lit up when his red toy came out. Watching him proudly walk around with it like it was his most treasured possession was pure joy. Those are the moments I’m always looking for the natural expressions, the happiness, and the little details that mean the most to their owners.
As a retired agility show dog, Sid has clearly lived an active and well-loved life. It’s safe to say agility has done him the world of good, because he genuinely doesn’t look a day over five. Fit, fabulous, and still full of spark.
Why I Love Photographing Senior Dogs
Sessions like Sid’s are exactly why senior dog photography holds such a special place in my heart. Older dogs have a calmness, a gentleness, and a depth of character that can’t be replicated. Every grey muzzle, every slow step, and every wag tells a story.
I offer senior dog photoshoots across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, often in favourite parks, woodland locations, or secure outdoor spaces where dogs feel relaxed and safe. These sessions are unhurried, pressure-free, and always tailored to the dog’s needs.
Dog Photography at Sherwood Pines, Nottinghamshire
Sherwood Pines is a beautiful location for dog photography, offering woodland backdrops, soft natural light, and plenty of space for dogs to explore at their own pace. It’s an ideal setting for both action shots and gentle portraits, especially for senior dogs who enjoy a relaxed wander rather than a fast-paced session.
Thank you, Sid, for such a joyful and heart-warming photoshoot. You were an absolute pleasure to photograph, and I’m so grateful to have captured these memories for your family.
