Holly & Guy’s Stormy, Yet Iconic Wedding at Pastures Lodge Hotel, Mexborough

Saturday 20th September will be a date I’ll never forget …the day of the storm, and more importantly, the day Holly and Guy tied the knot at the beautiful Pastures Lodge Hotel in Mexborough, South Yorkshire . Despite the wild weather and a few unexpected twists, their wedding day was nothing short of spectacular.

A Storm Couldn’t Stop the Love

When the rain came pouring down, it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits. We adapted the photography plan, group photos moved indoors, while the couple’s portraits were taken by the canal just as Holly had dreamed, complete with a romantic umbrella moment. It was proof that even with unpredictable weather, beautiful memories can still be created.

A Casino-Themed Celebration

Every detail of their wedding was carefully thought out and perfectly executed. Holly and Guy went all-in with a casino theme, and it was absolutely stunning. From the matching décor, bridal shoes, and flowers, to the most unique guestbook idea I’ve seen! personalised playing cards – their wedding was filled with creativity and personality.

Drama and Iconic Moments

As if the storm wasn’t enough of a challenge, the entire area experienced a power outage just as the evening celebrations began. For 20 minutes, the venue was without electricity. When the power returned, it cut out again during the couple’s first dance. But instead of stopping the fun, it turned into one of the most iconic moments of the night. Guests surrounded the newlyweds on the dance floor, singing and dancing with nothing but their voices, phone torches, and pure joy. It was raw, authentic, and unforgettable. A memory that will be talked about for years.

Warmth, Laughter, and Friendship

What stood out to me most was how warmly Holly and Guy, along with their family and friends, welcomed me into their celebrations. I was honored to sit at the fabulous friends’ table, swapping holiday stories, enjoying a delicious three-course meal, and even receiving a heartfelt card and gift card. I felt less like a photographer and more like part of the gang … truly spoilt.
